At two, Modern Art paced 6 miles in 1:53 or better and concluded his freshman year with a mark of 1:51.3, standing a remarkable 6-6-0 in 13 starts for earnings of $741,553.
In his sophomore campaign, Modern Art paced to a life’s mark of 1:50.2 and earned $313,680. His victories include the Woodrow Wilson, the New Jersey Classic, the Niatross, the Bluegrass Stakes and the Simpson Stakes.
Purchased as a yearling for $155,000, Modern Art competed against and beat the best pacing colts in North America, including Camelot Hall, Holborn Hanover, I Am A Fool, Metropolitan, Timesareachanging, and Western Terror.
Trainer Joe Holloway, who has harnessed such champion pacers as Jenna’s Beach Boy and She’s A Great Lady, had this to say about Modern Art:
